Our members can be found all over the Southwest and across the nation at events both public and private. We are available for corporate events, festivals, fundraisers, weddings, nightclubs, films, music videos and any other event where a dramatic element is desired. Got Fire is proud and honored to have donated it's dancers' time and talents for a fire exhibition show to the Southern California Special Olympics Winter Games in Big Bear California in March 2002.
Two of our dancers have also made an appearance at last year's "Exotic Erotic Ball" in Hollywood, CA (2002) - Flambabe and Becca.
THE EQUIPMENT...
Fire Poi - equipment made of a leather handle, chain and kevlar wick that is soaked in lighter fluid or other suitable fuels and is lit on fire and spun around the body while dancing.
Fire Staff - exactly what it sounds like, a 4-6 foot staff with kevlar wick at each end, soaked and set on fire.
Fire Fingers - long wire armatures that are placed on the fingers with fire yarn or other wick materials that is soaked in fuel and lit while dancing...this can be a very sensual art when done with middle-eastern or belly dancing.
Torches - balanced like juggling clubs, these are the similar but are set on fire.
Please check out the website for Home of Poi and Renegade Juggling - the links can be found on the "Favorite Links" page.
Transporting Your Equipment
To those of you who travel with your fire equipment in your carry on luggage - and some people can still do this on occasion, but not very reccommended - remember that most airline security workers may not have ever seen this sort of thing and may not understand your explanation of what you do...they just see weapons. Carry photos of what you do as well to help give them an idea of what its all about, that you are, in fact, a performance artist and NOT a terrorist.
Also, make sure that all equipment is placed in protected containers to protect your investment. Fire equipment isn't cheap...reemmber to insure your equipment when shipping it via mail or UPS or whatever.
Please see "Fuels & Safety" for important information about FUELS!
